| It has been a very, very long two weeks to “slow the spread”, but the Texas Legislature has finally closed that chapter for the people across our great state by passing SB 7 – the most impactful ban on COVID mandates in our nation! After over four hours of laborious debate on the House floor, during which legislators on both sides of the aisle emphatically resisted amendments intended to broaden the protections put in place by the bill, SB 7 was voted out of the House 91-54 and was successfully amended by Representatives Briscoe Cain and Steve Toth to protect more Texans and increase penalties for employers who violate Texans’ rights.
Earlier today, the Senate voted to concur with the House version of SB 7, meaning that this crucial bill is now headed to Governor Abbott’s desk to be signed into law, effectively marking the end of a long battle against COVID overreach, a battle where each of the over 100,000 TFVC supporters – YOU – found themselves on the front lines everyday.
