UT Tyler Announces Longview University Center Golf Tournament Fundraiser

Event raises scholarships for LUC military students and their families

TYLER (October 12, 2023) – The University of Texas at Tyler is seeking teams and sponsors to
participate in the annual scholarship fundraiser supporting students of the Longview University
Center.
The “Putting for the Patriots” golf tournament will be Monday, Nov. 6, at Pinecrest Country Club,
located at 214 Club Drive in Longview. The shotgun-start tournament is sponsored by the UT Tyler
Longview University Center and the Texas Wounded Warrior Foundation.
Proceeds from the golf tournament provide scholarships to LUC students who are active-duty
military, veterans or reservists. Scholarships are also provided to immediate family members of
these military students. The event was started in 2019, in partnership with the Texas Wounded
Warrior Foundation.
“As we approach Veterans Day, the Longview University Center wants to show its appreciation for
those who have served this great country. One way we do that is by giving our military students
and/or their dependent families the opportunity to benefit from the quality education we provide,”
said Dr. Rodney Ellis, LUC director.
For sponsorships or to register a team of four, visit uttyler.edu/advancement/luc-golf-tournament.
Check-in begins at 10 a.m.
The tournament goal is to raise $50,000 to establish an endowment.
