TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY – 7.15.2023 Fatality Crash in Wise County

County: Wise.

Location: US-81 at County Road 4228.

Posted Speed Limit: 65 MPH.

Road Condition: Dry.

Vehicle 1: 2007 Dodge Dakota.

Driver: No injuries.

Timothy Ashcraft. A 43-year-old male from Alvord, TX.

Vehicle 2: 2018 BMW K16 (motorcycle).

Driver 2: Deceased.

Joseph Nunez. A 47-year-old male from College Station, TX.

Description: Preliminary investigation indicates vehicle 1 was traveling on County Road 4228, and vehicle 2 was traveling on US-81. Vehicle 1 failed to yield the right of way at the stop sign and crashed with vehicle 2. The driver of vehicle 2 was flown to Wise Health System Hospital in Decatur and pronounced deceased. This investigation is ongoing, and no additional information is available.
