Friends,
The Texas heat is officially here. I hope that you are all staying cool and enjoying some restful periods with your families. Our District has had some tough times these past couple of weeks, so it is important that we continue to stand strong with each other. As we look ahead to Independence Day next week to celebrate the God-given liberties we enjoy in America, let’s also take time to pause and reflect on what we should do with that liberty and how to best preserve and propagate it.

In commemoration of the 25th annual “Beat the Heat” event, TXU Energy donated $5,000 to provide fans for Tyler-area families in need. Alongside People Attempting to Help (PATH) and Meals on Wheels of East Texas, I had the opportunity to participate in this week’s event and deliver box fans and meals to our neighbors in need. It made my heart happy to bring my two youngest along, as well. Lincoln and Juliette so enjoyed meeting some new friends. And, along the way, I am hopeful that they learned more about one of the two great commandments—to love your neighbor!
With the brutal summer temperatures at an all-time high across the State, special thanks to TXU Energy, PATH, and Meals on Wheels for their generosity and service-focused efforts to keep East Texans cool this summer!

The University of Texas System serves as a premier educational institution, with several flagship schools across our state – including in East Texas. As a member of the House Committee on Education & the Workforce, I enjoyed my recent visit with Chancellor JB Milliken to discuss the System’s positive influence on so many in East Texas and beyond. We discussed UT’s innovative cyber-security clinics, growing workforce needs, preparing students to be productive parts of our economy, and other innovative ways the UT System is preparing tomorrow’s leaders.
This discussion came just a few days after a meeting in DC with Dr. Kirk Calhoun, who serves as President of University of Texas at Tyler as well as Chairman of the Board for UT Health East Texas. His leadership of these entities has proven invaluable to East Texans for many years, and his insight into important forthcoming legislative issues was invaluable to my office. Thank you Dr. Calhoun and Chancellor Milliken.

More revelations are coming to light regarding the FBI’s 2016 investigation of then-candidate Trump and his possible ties with Russia. As you recall, the investigation was based on the fabricated Steele Dossier, which has now been debunked in all respects. Special Counsel John Durham turned the microscope around and investigated the FBI’s investigation. His findings were disheartening. Durham found that the FBI did not follow its own well-established procedures, did not interview key witnesses, did not turn over exculpatory evidence, and continued to press the investigation when there was no corroboration or support for any of the allegations.
The Durham Report laid out just another example of the weaponization of the government against those who have opposing political views. That has to stop. Application of the law must be equal, regardless of political viewpoint or affiliation. Unfortunately, the recent whistleblower admissions about Hunter Biden using his father as leverage for a private business deal with associates from the Chinese Communist Party only further exposes the two-tiered justice system America has experienced in recent years.
I recently joined Mornings with Maria on Fox News to discuss these concerning revelations and call for accountability of equal justice under the law, a principle enshrined in our American justice system. My full interview is available by clicking HERE.

Censure is not an action that Congress should take lightly. But, Rep Adam Schiff (D-CA) engaged in acts that gave rise to the need for such Congressional discipline. During Representative Adam Schiff’s time as Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, he was in a special position to receive confidential information about certain matters now exposed in the Durham Report. He exploited his authority and breached his fiduciary duty to the American people by misleading them about what he was hearing behind closed doors. He also misled other members of Congress about what was true—all at the expense of the American taxpayers.
We cannot tolerate this sort of abuse of power in Congress, which is why I voted to censure Mr. Schiff.
