TPPF Applauds Gov. Abbott Signing of House Bill 2920

AUSTIN — Today, the Texas Public Policy Foundation applauds Gov. Abbott for signing House Bill 2920, legislation that will provide resources for parents and families on the cost and lifetime benefits of a college degree.

House Bill 2920, known as the “Know Before You Go” bill, creates a portal for high school students and parents to assess the cost, and potential professional earnings, of a college degree. As college tuition continues to skyrocket, this resource is more necessary than ever to help Texans make informed decisions.

“Texas high school students and their families deserve to have full information about what earning and debt they can expect from different majors at various institutions,” said Erin Valdez, policy director for TPPF’s Next Generation Texas initiative. “College is a massive investment of time and resources, and this bill gives prospective students more tools to be informed to make comparisons among majors offered at higher education institutions.  HB 2920 will empower students and families to make better choices for their futures.”
