UT Tyler Charter School Recognizes 2023 Graduating Class 

TYLER (May 30, 2023) – The University of Texas at Tyler University Academy recognized 46 graduates during its 2023 graduation ceremony on Saturday, May 27, at the UT Tyler Herrington  Patriot Center. 

UT Tyler President Kirk A. Calhoun, MD, FACP, gave the commencement address. Dr. Jo Ann  Simmons, UA superintendent, and Dr. Michael Odell, UT Tyler professor of STEM education and  primary founder of the University Academy, gave opening and closing remarks, respectively. 

Graduates by campus are: 

LONGVIEW – Katherine Konrady (valedictorian), Jenayah Watson (salutatorian), Robert Burnfield, Brayden Comer, Jea’Mya Fitzpatrick, Emmi’Lu Holp, Christian Jones, Madalyne Kirby, Joel Livas,  Ruthanne Moland, Eric Perez, Andrew Ponce, Daelon Pruitt, Alder Smithson, Cierra Smith, Jenna  Williamson and Taylor Wood. 

PALESTINE – Jad Absy (valedictorian), Samuel Carter (salutatorian), Zade Absy, Isaiah Adams, Cayvin  Birdwell, Carter Branch, Hunter Brown, David Davis, Mollie Flowers, Justin Fox, Navy Haff, Tennyson  Keller, Ethan Niedecken, Jonathan Reed and Emma Skloss. 

TYLER – Rachel Smith (valedictorian), Meredith Hilbig (salutatorian), Emelia Conneen, Asher  Douglas, Grace Dudley, Reagan Lee, Jorge Maya, Jr., Caleb Mellor, Jude Pacheco, Jonathan Rossall,  Anniston Smith, Duong Tran, Amna Waleed and Ryan Whiteside. 

The UT Tyler University Academy is a K-12 public university charter school with campuses in Tyler,  Longview and Palestine. UT Tyler UA offers STEM curriculum in a hands-on learning environment.  The district currently serves about 835 students.  

With a mission to improve educational and health care outcomes for East Texas and beyond, UT  Tyler offers more than 80 undergraduate and graduate programs to 10,000 students. UT Tyler  recently merged with The University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler (now known as UT  Tyler Health Science Center).
