TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY – Fatal Crash in Wise County

Date & Time: May 6, 2023, at 9:32 pm.  

County: Wise.  

Location: US-81, just south of County Road 4421.  

Posted Speed Limit: 70 MPH Weather: Raining Road Condition: Wet. 

Vehicle 1: 2011 Dodge 1500.  

Driver: Stable injuries.  

Victor Figueroa, male, 25 YOA, from Irving, TX.  

Vehicle 2: 2009 Dodge 2500  

Driver: Critical injuries.  

Jason Lindhorst, male, 55 YOA, from Godley, TX.  

Passenger: Deceased.  

Elizabeth McWhorter, female, 81 YOA, from Godley, TX.  

Description: Preliminary investigation indicates vehicle 1 was traveling northbound, and vehicle  2 was traveling southbound on US-81. The driver of vehicle 1 was driving at an unsafe speed for  the road conditions, lost control of the vehicle, and caused vehicle 1 to side skid into the  southbound lanes. Vehicle 1 collided with vehicle 2. The collision caused vehicle 1 to roll over.  The driver of vehicle 1 was not utilizing a seatbelt and was ejected. The driver of vehicle 1  sustained stable injuries and was transported to Wise Health System in Decatur, TX. The driver  of vehicle 2 sustained critical injuries and was transported to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort  Worth, TX. The passenger of vehicle 2 was pronounced deceased at the scene by Justice of the  Peace Jan Morrow. This investigation is ongoing, and no additional information is available.
