Gilmer Resident Named UT Tyler 2023 History Scholar 

TYLER (May 2, 2023) – Annalynn Andrews of Gilmer, a junior at The University of Texas at  Tyler, is a 2023 history scholar. A double English and history major, Andrews received the UT Tyler  Jackson Academic Achievement Award in the amount of $1,000. 

The UT Tyler Department of Political Science and History presents scholarships to declared history  majors in recognition of excellent academic performance, and to encourage the study of history at  the university. This award honors the memory of historian Phil Stacy Jackson, a distinguished UT  Tyler history graduate. 

“I am extremely honored to have received this recognition,” said Andrews. “I greatly enjoy my  history classes at UT Tyler and always try to give my all in my work, so being recognized by the  history faculty for my hard work means so much to me.” 

Andrews will graduate in May 2024 with a UT Tyler Bachelor of Arts degree in English and history.  She plans to attend law school after graduation.
