Kilgore College will present championship rings to football team Saturday followed by annual Blue/Gray Spring Game
Kilgore College Athletics will present championship rings to the 2022 Ranger football team that won the Southwest Junior College Football Conference (SWJCFC) Championship.
The ring ceremony is set for 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 29, at R.E. St. John Memorial Stadium in Kilgore.
Admission to the ring ceremony and the spring football game Saturday is free.
There will be a strict clear bag policy in place for fans entering the stadium.
Following the ceremony, the Rangers will conclude spring practice with the annual Blue/Gray Spring Game at 3 p.m.
KC football is coming off an 8-4 season under head coach Willie Gooden, defeating New Mexico Military Institute, 39-12, to win the conference championship in November of 2022.
The Rangers will return 15 lettermen for the 2023 squad, along with 21 newcomers.
“We’re excited to wrap up a successful and productive spring practice season, but this is just the beginning,” said Gooden, who will lead the Rangers in 2023 in his fifth year as head coach. “We are strictly focused, and are working every day to produce a strong defense with minimal defensive penalties and a potent offense.”
Gooden said that offensively, fans can expect a technically sound air-raid, up-tempo offense during the 2023 season.
“I assure you it’ll be an offense that will get fans up out of their seats,” Gooden said.
KC Athletics thanks everyone who made donations to make the championship rings a reality.
