Pre-nursing student Michele Hart wins new Chevrolet Malibu in Cruise for Success Car Giveaway

Kilgore College awarded a brand-new Chevrolet Malibu to one lucky student at the fourth annual Cruise for Success Car Giveaway April 20.

KC sophomore Michele Hart, of Longview, was the lucky winner of the car giveaway, driving away in the new car – courtesy of Patterson Chevrolet of Kilgore.

The event not only featured the car giveaway, but also included a college-wide crawfish boil in the Lee Mall/Mike Miller Plaza. Aramark grilled hot dogs and hamburgers, and DJ Juice and Charlie’s Sno-Balls kept the party going — courtesy of the KC Campus Life Office.

The ceremony began with the introduction of the nine finalists.

The first seven student names drawn won $500. With two students left, two car fobs were drawn, with only one starting the new car.

Hart, a pre-nursing major who takes classes on the KC-Longview campus, picked the lucky car fob.

Raymond Espinosa, a dual credit student from Kilgore, did not pick the lucky key fob; however, he won $1,000 as a runner-up.

The Cruise for Success program allows qualifying KC students to earn entries throughout the fall and spring semesters for a chance to win a new car.

They are also eligible to win monthly prizes donated by area sponsors throughout the year.

KC graduate and NHRA top fuel dragster Steve Torrence, who serves as the official spokesperson for Cruise for Success, spoke at the event as well as Rickey Clark, managing partner for Patterson Chevrolet and Patterson Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Kilgore.
