Jim Biden, Joe’s younger brother, wrote a groveling letter to a Qatari prince in charge of the Arab nation’s 170 billion investment fund in August 2017, asking for a meeting. In the letter, obtained by DailyMail dot com from Hunter Biden’s abandoned laptop, Jim told a Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) director: “My family could provide a wealth of introductions and business opportunities at the highest levels.” The letter is the latest in a series of revelations about Joe’s younger sibling Jim Biden, 73, using the family name to boost his business connections in the Middle East.

Breaking: Mayor Lori Lightfoot concedes defeat, setting stage for Chicago’s mayoral race to be between Brandon Johnson and Paul Vallas | 28 Feb 2023 | Mayor Lori Lightfoot conceded defeat Tuesday night, ending her efforts for a second term and setting the stage for Cook County Commissioner Brandon Johnson to run against former Chicago Public Schools CEO Paul Vallas for Chicago mayor. A visibly shaken Lightfoot conceded the race just before 9 p.m. and said she will be “rooting and praying for our next mayor to deliver for the people of the city for years to come.” The Associated Press just before 9 p.m. called the race for Johnson, who in addition to defeating Lightfoot also outmuscled U.S. Rep. Jesús “Chuy” García. Vallas scored the top spot in the first round of the mayoral campaign. Unofficial results showed Vallas garnered 35% of the vote with 90% of the precincts reporting. Johnson was second with 20%, followed by Lightfoot at 16% and García at 14%.

House votes to kill Biden’s ‘woke’ ESG investment rule that props up ‘phony climate movement’ –The House voted to kill the Department of Labor rule and the Senate will take it up next | 28 Feb 2023 | The House voted Tuesday to kill the Biden administration’s controversial rule that encourages private retirement plan fiduciaries to consider environment, social and governance (ESG) factors when making investment decisions for tens of millions of Americans. The Department of Labor rule is widely seen by Republicans as part of the Biden administration’s push to inject “woke” ideology into all aspects of government. Under the rule, fiduciaries who make investment decisions for the retirement plans of more than 150 million people would be explicitly permitted under federal guidelines to consider companies’ approach to climate change and other social issues, instead of focusing on only profitability and return on investment for retirees. Republicans say that’s a recipe for tanking millions of investment accounts, and on Tuesday, House GOP leaders called up a resolution aimed at killing the rule, which passed 216-204.

Upper ranks of Big Tech swarming with ex-CIA and FBI, ‘agents of the national security state’ — Evidence is mounting that the many ex-intelligence officials populating the ranks of Big Tech are deliberately placed to control the flow of public information. | 23 Feb 2023 | Big Tech giants such as Twitter, Facebook, and Google are not merely private companies but essentially “agents of the national security state,” observed a journalist who has extensively studied the subject. An “alarming” amount of Big Tech’s high-ranking staff have been formerly employed by the CIA, FBI, or NSA, Alan MacLeod pointed out on a podcast hosted by fellow journalist and researcher Whitney Webb. His claim is backed by research by an open-source investigator with the Twitter handle @NameRedacted247, who has found that Google, for example, currently employs “at least 165 people, in high-ranking positions, from the intelligence community,” including 52 people from the FBI, 30 people from the NSA, and 27 people from the CIA, as The Trumpet shared in January.

Pentagon to change promotion records for service members who refused COVID vaccine | 28 Feb 2023 | Each branch of the U.S. military is undergoing a review of their records to ensure that service members who refused to take a COVID-19 vaccine are not passed over for promotions after the Defense Department ended the vaccine mandate last month. The Pentagon issued a memo on Friday instructing that all military services “formally rescind any policies, directives, and guidance implementing those vaccination mandates as soon as possible, if they have not already done so.” Defense Department component heads were given a March 17, 2023, deadline to certify that they’ve changed their policies.

Egg on media’s face after dismissing COVID lab leak as ‘debunked’ conspiracy theory | 28 Feb 2023 | The COVID lab leak theory is the latest example of reporters and pundits from organizations like CNN, MSNBC, The New York Times and Washington Post dismissing something as “debunked” before uncovering the facts, and watchdogs believe the dangerous trend undermines the media’s already poor credibility. Once broadly cast aside as a conspiracy theory, “debunked bunkum” and misinformation, the possibility that COVID-19 accidentally leaked from the [U.S.-funded] Wuhan Institute of Virology has continued to gain credibility over the years. On Sunday, the Wall Street Journal reported that the U.S. Energy Department feels the virus likely originated from an accidental lab leak in China. The stunning report triggered yet another reckoning for mainstream media journalists who dismissed the lab leak theory because it didn’t coincide with the popular narrative.

Zelensky aide explains why Ukraine won’t let men leave –Human rights take the back seat to obligations to the state, Mikhail Podoliak told German TV | 27 Feb 2023 | Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s top aide has defended Kiev’s decision to ban men from leaving the country, saying otherwise they could “run away.” Fleeing the draft means wanting the country to be destroyed, Mikhail Podoliak told the German state outlet DW “Let’s be blunt here. No need to speculate. What does the restriction of rights mean? Do people in Ukraine not have obligations also? Or are we just talking about rights?” Podoliak told DW in an interview making the rounds on social media on Monday. “…But in wartime, that’s not a question to raise. Do you want to cross the border? That means you want Ukraine to stop existing, because you crossed the border. Because when you say ‘Open the borders for men,’ that means opening the border so they can run away from the manly choice. And they want to run away,” Podoliak said.

Train carrying more than 30,000 gallons of propane fuel derails in Florida – Hazmat crews rush to the scene after six cars overturn | 28 Feb 2023 | A train carrying more than 30,000 gallons of propane fuel has derailed in Florida, sparking new environmental concerns just weeks after a toxic train overturned in Ohio. Southern Manatee Fire Rescue Chief Robert Bounds said Tuesday afternoon that six Seminole Gulf railway cars fell off the tracks near a homeless camp at the Sarasota-Manatee County border. Five of the cars were carrying sheetrock, while the sixth was carrying propane. Another train car that did not overturn was also transporting propane at the time, and jumped the track during the partial derailment, FOX 13 reports. Hazmat teams are now monitoring the situation.

Gas line fire in Daly City burns for 11 hours, forces people to evacuate | 28 Feb 2023 | (Daly City, CA) A gas line fire in Daly City, California, forced people to evacuate their homes overnight and into Tuesday morning. The fire was at a home on Gellert Avenue…just blocks from Westborough Middle School. Officials say the fire started around 11 p.m. Monday and was burning for hours into the morning in front of the home. As of 10 a.m., the fire is out after burning for 11 hours. Officials had said they were going to let it burn out. Fire officials on scene told ABC7 News they believe it may have been caused by an electrical valve blowing, which then sparked a gas leak.

San Francisco reparations panel on how it decided on $5M per black person: ‘There wasn’t a math formula’[Right, because there’s nothing to calculate.] | 28 Feb 2023 | San Francisco’s panel on reparations explained on Tuesday how it came to its recent recommendation that qualifying black residents should receive $5 million each. The city’s African American Reparations Advisory Committee unveiled its recommendation in January, arguing that the city owed compensation to black residents for decades of discrimination. The committee’s chair, consultant Eric McDonnell, now says the $5 million number came as a result of a “journey” rather than a “math formula.” “There wasn’t a math formula,” McDonnell told The Washington Post. While slavery was never legal in San Francisco, reparations activists say the city imposed decades of racist policies that economically harmed Black residents.

Washington, D.C. City Council says bill for allowing non-citizens to vote is now law – report –The law allows for qualified non-citizens to vote as long as they reside in the city for at least 30 days | 27 Feb 2023 | A Washington, D.C., effort to allow non-citizens, including undocumented immigrants and foreign diplomats according to the Wall Street journal, to vote in local elections is now law. The City Council passed the Local Resident Voting Rights Amendment Act amid criticism from Republicans. Congress had a 30-day review period, during which lawmakers could have pushed to block the legislation. The review period ended last week, the council said Monday, WAMU reported. The House pushed to block the D.C. law from taking effect but the Senate ran out of time before the review period ended.

Woman speaks out about NY law that doesn’t allow mace to be shipped to state: ‘Deprived of fundamental rights’ | 23 Feb 2023 | New York Post columnist Rikki Schlott is raising awareness about a New York law that doesn’t allow pepper spray to be mailed to any city or county in the state. State law allows pepper spray to be used and carried for self-defense but doesn’t allow it to be shipped to a New York address. The only type of spray that can be mailed directly to the state is animal mace. Schlott says the law directly puts New Yorkers at risk because they aren’t able to defend themselves from potential acts of violence.
