Legacies in Art 🎨 and Music 🎵

SUNDAY February 19, 2023

“Only through art can we emerge from ourselves and know what another person sees.”

Marcel Proust

This week we feature the art of Bob Snead now on display at the Longview Museum of Fine Arts in the exhibit Buffalo Soldiers Revisited. Even after Snead’s death the paintings and drawings continue to affect our understanding of the the buffalo soldiers. Perhaps his legacy is our greater awareness of the noble service these men performed on the frontier.

The Jersey Tenors are also featured in this issue. They accomplish a similar feat by performing tunes from widely known musicians from the Garden State. The show pays tribute to many talents who have influenced American music since the mid-20th century.
