A GOOD AUSPICIOUS DAY

I always learn a lot when I watch special events. This past Tuesday, I was highly impressed by the rabbi who delivered the Benediction at the gubernatorial inauguration of Governor Greg Abbott. He noted that the governor’s inauguration day is proscribed to be held on a Tuesday, but few people seemed to know why. The rabbi speculated .and noted that Judaism considers Tuesday as a particularly lucky day, because in Bereshit (parashah), known in the Christian tradition as the first chapters of Genesis, the paragraph about this day contains the phrase “it was good” two times. With scripture mentioning that day was “good” two times, it indicates that the day is held in exceptionally high esteem. As a baptized Catholic myself (as is Governor Abbott), I am pro-Jewish and thus pro-Israel. I am happy that Judeo-Christian ties are strong. .I applaud the rabbi for his inciteful and wonderful benediction. May Almighty God bless Texas forever.
