|AUSTIN – The American Federation for Children – Texas today praised Governor Abbott and Lieutenant Governor Patrick for reaffirming their commitment to school choice in their inaugural addresses. Both made parental rights and educational freedom a tenet of their campaigns and in today’s speeches made clear that this will be a legislative priority this session.
Governor Abbott reaffirmed his commitment to school choice stating, “No one knows what is better for a child’s education than their parents. Those parents deserve the freedom to choose the education that’s best for their child.”
Lt. Governor Patrick echoed Governor Abbott’s remarks stating in his address that, “The Governor and I are all in on school choice! … We are going to pass school choice this session.”

“Today, Governor Abbott and Lt. Governor Patrick made clear that they will not allow Texas to fall behind when it comes to educational freedom. AFC-TX is grateful to both the Governor and Lt. Governor for their commitment to this fundamental freedom and will work alongside them this legislative session to give every child in Texas the best education possible.”
