Rep. Slaton Issues Statement on Joint Letter to the Attorney General

AUSTIN – Today, Rep. Bryan Slaton (HD 2) was joined by Representatives Brian Harrison (HD 10), Tony Tinderholt (HD 94), and Mark Dorazio (HD 122) in sending a letter to AG Ken Paxton requesting that he review the recent guidance that was published by the Texas Association of School Boards titled “Legal Issues to Transgender Students.”

Rep. Slaton issued the following statement:

“Today I was joined by Representatives Brian Harrison, Tony Tinderholt, and Mark Dorazio in requesting AG Ken Paxton to review the highly disturbing “transgender students” guidance that was recently published by the Texas Association of School Boards.

The guidance not only seems to encourage schools to refrain from reporting child abuse, but also claims that young girls have no protection from biological males being in their restrooms and locker rooms.

We hope AG Paxton will review this document and offer further guidance to Texas Public Schools and, if necessary, the Texas Legislature.”
