Longview Community Ministries Announces Kick-off 17th Annual “Souper” Bowl of Caring Food Drive

LONGVIEW – Longview Community Ministries kicks off “Souper” Bowl of Caring Food Drives throughout the community from January 9- February 13!  The mission of the annual event is to encourage our community to join the fight against hunger and poverty.  Groups and individuals celebrating the “Souper” Bowl will collect canned goods and non-perishable foods for the Food Box of Longview Community Ministries.

The Food Box is the largest food pantry in Longview and served 2,300 families with nearly 5,400 individuals in 2021, distributing 26,600 boxes of food.  An additional 11,000 bags of perishable items were distributed.

Churches, schools, businesses and individuals can host a food drive from January 9 through February 12.  Winners of the food drive competition will receive the coveted “Souper” Bowl Trophy! Longview Community Ministries will deliver collection barrels and signage to encourage donations of canned goods and non-perishable food items.   The deadline for all donations will be the Monday, February 13, following Super Bowl Sunday.  Please contact LCM if you would like to participate!

Anyone wanting to turn a Super Bowl party into a “Souper” Bowl Party should contact Miranda Dolive at Longview Community Ministries, 903-753-3561 ext. 208 for more information or to make arrangements for delivery of boxes and signage.
