AUSTIN (December 6, 2022) — Just in time for the holidays, a new, contemporary production of the Nativity story—He Rules The World—premiered early in December 2022 to entertain audiences in Austin, Texas with Broadway talent through song, narration, and imagery at the Dell Theatre. He Rules The World is a captivating live-concert and video experience that celebrates the true meaning of Christmas. The show features animations by Wonderstory and performances by internationally acclaimed talent, including vocalist David Gaschen (The Phantom of the Opera on Broadway), Narrator Kevin Sorbo (Hercules, God’s Not Dead), and more. It is currently available for bookings nationwide. He Rules The World was filmed and recorded and will be available for distribution in 2023, making it a great holiday addition for theaters as well as Christ-based faith community, church, and school programs.
The Nativity story comes to life on a giant LED wall as the concert experience and lyrical character development immerses audiences in an exploration of the points of view of the primary participants in the story: Mary, Joseph, the Angel Gabriel, the Innkeeper, Herod, and the Wise Men. He Rules the World features a live band with singers supported by projected animation, motion graphics, and lights, along with narration by Kevin Sorbo.
“He Rules the World is such a fresh and exciting way to celebrate the birth of Jesus. I was honored to narrate the animation for the show,” said actor Kevin Sorbo. “The music is stellar with elements that are both familiar and new.”
The music for He Rules the World was created and arranged by Peter B. Emerson, a musician, composer, and educator who has lived in Texas for over 20 years. It also includes narration written by Terri Lynn Castleberry. The show is produced by Camille Scioli Chambers (12 Mighty Orphans, The Iron Orchard), directed by cinematographer Matt Chauncey (Frame), and co-produced by featured singer David Gaschen.
