JCU MBB COMES UP SHORT IN SEASON OPENER

NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana – The Jarvis Christian men’s basketball team lost its season opener at Dillard University, 77-60 on Friday night. The Bulldogs start the 2022-23 campaign 0-1.

Jorden Clark led the team with 14 points as was 6-9 in field goals and 1-1 in three pointers. He also pulled in eight rebounds and had a steal.

James Phillip Russell, Jakobe Dill, Jakari Jackson, and Tory Cargo all put up double figures in the points category.

Russell scored 10 points to go along with three rebounds and two assists. Dill scored 10 and grabbed two rebounds. Jackson had 11 points with two rebounds, six assists, and two steals. Cargo also scored 11 points and recorded four rebounds, three assists, and five steals to complete the strong performance.

As a unit, the Bulldogs were 24-64 (37.5%) in field goals and 8-28 (28.6%) from behind the three-point line. JCU pulled in 29 total rebounds as a team and posted 14 total assists.

The Bulldogs are back on the court Friday afternoon at the Texarkana Classic. JCU will play Wiley at 3 p.m.
