Texas A&M Forest Service Lone Star State Handcrew mobilized to support Kentucky wildfires

 

WHO: The media is invited to visit with the members of the Lone Star State Handcrew before they travel to Kentucky for wildfire response. Members of the crew and public information officers will be available to speak with media about the assignment as well as the current wildfire situation across Texas.

 

WHAT:  An 11-member Texas A&M Forest Service Suppression Module will travel to Kentucky for a 14- to 21-day assignment supporting the state’s wildfire suppression efforts.

 

WHERE:  Texas A&M Forest Service Linden District Office, 907 Hwy. 59 South, Linden, TX 75563

 

WHEN:  Friday, November 11, 2022

3 – 3:30 p.m.

 

WHY: The state of Kentucky is experiencing increased wildfire activity due to persistent drought and weather conditions that are conducive to active wildfire behavior. Kentucky wildland firefighters have been tirelessly battling wildfires for more than a month and require additional personnel and equipment to assist.
