Accclaimed author to speak at Friends of the Tyler Public Library Annual Meeting

Reavis Z. Wortham, acclaimed author of “The Rock Hole” and “The Right Side of Wrong”, will discuss his latest novel “The Texas Job” at the Annual Meeting for the Friends of the Tyler Public Library, October 6, 6:00 p.m. at the Martin Walker Law Firm, 121 North Spring Street.

Publisher’s Weekly describes “The Texas Job” as, “Set in 1931, this well-crafted crime novel features Texas Ranger Tom Bell, a supporting character in The Right Side of Wrong, Wortham’s third Red River mystery. Authentic settings and richly drawn characters complement Wortham’s striking depiction of the Texas oil boom and the unavoidable corruption, greed, and anarchy that accompany it.”

The Western Writers Association presented Wortham with the prestigious Spur Award for “Hawke’s War.” Kirkus Review listed his first novel “The Rock Hole” as one of the Top 12 Mysteries of 2011.

The Friends Annual Meeting also features a silent auction, wine and refreshments. Proceeds from the event fund Library programs not covered by the City budget, including upgrading the Local History Room.

The Local History Room lacks shelving and secure storage for rare and fragile manuscripts from early Smith County and East Texas. Friends of the Tyler Public Library are funding the upgrades and the  the digitizing of the resources so that they will be available to all.
