TEEA awards

Members receiving the award for District 5 Honor Roll of Counties for Upshur County at the State TEEA Meeting are, from left: Linda Steger and Joan Warren. Extension Agent Julie York transported and supported them during the Meeting.

Upshur County TEEA and an individual member were recognized at the State TEA meeting in Lubbock recently.

Carol Tejcek received 2nd place in the state-level Cultural Arts contest with her hand-woven rug in Class 1 competing against “afghans, tablecloths, bedspreads, blankets and throws.”

Upshur County Extension Agent Julie York (right) presents Carol Tejcek with her 2nd place ribbon (at the Gilmer Area Senior Center) since she couldn’t attend the state meeting.

As a county-wide group, Upshur EE was recognized as the recipient of the District 5 Honor Roll of Counties for their outstanding overall service to the community.
All 27 members are dedicated to making Upshur County the best place to live, work and play.
Each member lives the TEEA mission: “to work with the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service to strengthen and enrich families through educational programs, leadership development and community service.”
