David Romero will present ‘The Latinx Giant’ Sept. 29 in Dodson Auditorium
Kilgore College welcomes Mexican-American spoken-word artist David A. Romero who will present “The Latinx Giant” from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 29, in Dodson Auditorium.
His presentation will provide a brief summary of Latinx history in United States and will also provide context for understanding the differences between the terms Latinx, Chicanx and Hispanic.
It is a celebration of Latinx culture through ongoing struggles with racism, victories won in civil rights and economic opportunities, and a preview of what is to come.
The lecture, hosted by KC’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) committee and Sigma Kappa Delta (KC’s English honor society), is part of a month-long celebration at KC of Hispanic Heritage Month that runs from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15 each year.
Admission is free and the community is invited to attend. If you are a community member who would like to attend, please send an RSVP to kcdei@kilgore.edu.
