HAWKINS – Angie Rivera, Emmalee Lopez, and Gabriela Benavides all booted in goals as the Jarvis Christian University women’s soccer team cruised to a 3-1 win against Central Baptist College on Thursday afternoon at the Jarvis Soccer Field.


JCU moves to 1-2 on the season after picking up the first win of the season. Central Baptist drops to 2-3-1 on the year.


The Bulldogs outshot Central Baptist, 23-7 as the Bulldogs were able to keep Central Baptist away from the goal for most of the game.


JCU jumped out to a 3-0 lead before Erica Hawkins of Central Baptist scored on an assist by Vitoria Loiola to make the score 3-1.


Angie Rivera scored the first goal of the game in the 13th minute on an assist from Kayla Ochoa. Emmalee Lopez followed with another goal in the 28th minute to mark her second goal of the season.


Shortly into the start of the second half, Gabriela Benavides struck in the 61st minute for her third goal of the season. Mitzy Guereca took credit for the assist.


Benavides took five shots in the game with three shots on goal and one goal scored. Mitzy Guereca had four shots and one shot on goal. Lopez, Leslie Guereca, Kayla Ochoa, Rivera, and Veronica Gutierrez all had two shots.


Goalkeeper Hailey Rivera allowed one goal and recorded a save through 90 minutes.

The Bulldogs are back on their home field to host Dallas Christian College at noon Saturday.
