Labor of Love đź’›

SUNDAY September 4, 2022

“Enthusiasm in our daily work lightens labor and turns even labor into pleasant tasks.”

James Baldwin

Labor Day offers an opportunity to celebrate and reflect on the importance of work. In this issue we view photography by Lewis Hine that depicts child labor in the early 20th century. His utilitarian art reminds of how much labor has changed through the years.

Not all labor is harsh or unpleasant. David Hendley’s farmhouse pottery is created with dedication to authentic processes. Dennis Howard demonstrates his art during a live event September 10. For some, labor is by choice a creative act.
