JCU WOMEN’S SOCCER DROPS SEASON OPENER AT TEXAS WESLEYAN

FORT WORTH – The Jarvis Christian University women’s soccer team dropped its season opener Saturday at Texas Wesleyan, 7-3. The Bulldogs fall to 0-1 to start the 2022 season.

 

Texas Wesleyan struck first as Tameir Grosvenor scored a goal in the 13th minute. She was assisted by Kathyana Jasso to take the early lead.

 

The Bulldogs responded later in the first half with two goals in three minutes to take the 2-1 lead over the Rams. Gabriela Benavides scored in the 35th minute. Emmalee Lopez then scored in the 38th minute. Andrea Mata claimed the assist on Lopez’s goal.

 

Jennika Appelberg scored on an assist by Tameir Grosvenor in the 43rd minute to tie the game right before the half.

 

Coming out of the break, the Rams scored four unanswered goals in the 47th, 65th, 66th, and 83rd minutes. Mikayla Trevino scored on an assist by Cara Zwilling in the 47th minute. Mychaela Lott scored on an assist by Tameir Grosvenor in the 65th minute. Tameir Grosvenor scored in the 66th minute, and Mikayla Trevino scored in the 83rd minute.

 

JCU would respond with a goal in the 88th minute as Kayla Ochoa scored on a penalty kick. The Rams then added one more goal in the 89th minute as Tameir Grosvenor scored again.
