Artwork by seventh-grade students on display at KC East Texas Oil Museum

To continue celebrating local history this summer, the Kilgore College East Texas Oil Museum is hosting an art exhibit by seventh-graders from the UT Tyler University Academy (UTTUA).

The exhibit, “History-Making Texans,” will be on display at the museum through July 15.

Art and essay exhibits portray some of the famous – and lesser-known – colorful characters in Texas history who made an impact on the state through science, politics, education, advocacy and more.

The project was developed and implemented by Vanessa Goodspeed and Rachel McDaniel, educators at UTTUA.

The museum’s hours are Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

For more information or to schedule a group tour, call the ETOM at (903) 983-8295 or visit www.kilgore.edu/oilmuseum.
