Arlington Mayor Jim Ross Helps to Kick Off CECC Texas – the Largest Scholastic Esports Festival Globally
WHAT:
- Arlington Mayor Jim Ross will join CSMG CEO Michael Schreck at 11:30 am CST to announce that CECC Texas will return to Arlington for a 3rd year in 2025 (and receive a ceremonial jersey)
- A record-breaking 84 teams (up from 64 in 2023), including 19 conference champions, are competing across four gaming titles – representing 800+ competitors
- The Texas High and Middle School Esports Championships return for a 2nd year to compete within CECC Texas
- “May Madness” event includes open tournaments, the ESPORTSU Collegiate Awards across multiple categories, gaming-themed onsite activations, and various industry panels
- NFL Legend and Nebraska Esports Coach Ahman Green in attendance to inspire the competitors

Returning for the second year in a row at Esports Stadium Arlington, Collegiate Sports Management Group (CSMG) and ESPORTSU kicked off today the Collegiate Esports Commissioner’s Cup Texas (CECC Texas) presented by McDonald’s. The “May Madness” event will have 84 teams (up from 64 in 2023) to compete for prize pools and coveted trophies across Overwatch 2®, Rocket League, VALORANT, and Gen E SMASH. More than 800+ competitors and thousands of fans are expected this weekend.
CECC Texas offers something for everyone including the Texas High and Middle School Esports Championships, theNational Esports Collegiate Conference (NECC) championship finals across League of Legends, Overwatch, Rocket League, and VALORANT, open tournaments for Street Fighter 6, Teamfight Tactics and HALO Infinite 2v2, the Smoothie King Super Smash Bros.™ Ultimate Open, through Generation Esports, with a $5,000 prize pool, the ESPORTSU Collegiate Awards across multiple categories, gaming-themed onsite activations, and various industry panels.
Doors open at 9 am each day on May 3-5 for ticketed attendees to experience the high caliber competition and festival activities, showcasing champion esports athletes across the four game titles as they hoist their trophies on Sunday throughout the day.
CECC Texas is supported by McDonald’s of North Texas, State Farm, U.S. Army 5th Brigade, Smoothie King, CTRL, Arlington Convention and Visitors Bureau, Apple Music. Zipchair Gaming, Dairy MAX, Dallas Cowboys Game Time presented by Lenovo, Cisco, Red Bull, PC Gamerz, Cirkul, Grand Canyon University, and U.S. Army ROTC, who will be activating throughout the event.
