Local Pest Control Competitors Join Forces to Serve Harrison County Families
Annual Pest Control Day unites three Marshall businesses and Northeast Texas Habitat for Humanity to provide free services to families in need.
MARSHALL, TEXAS — Three local pest control companies will set aside their everyday competition this Friday, October 23, 2026, to work together for a common purpose: helping Harrison County families enjoy healthier, safer homes.
Gecko Pest Control, Branch’s Pest Control, and Cho Cho’s Pest Control will join forces with Northeast Texas Habitat for Humanity for the annual Pest Control Day, providing professional pest control services at no cost to qualifying households throughout Harrison County. BWI Companies is donating the pest control products used for this year’s event.
The annual event, which began in 2019, demonstrates how local businesses can work together to make a meaningful difference in the lives of their neighbors.
“Most days, we’re competitors in the marketplace, but on Pest Control Day, we’re simply neighbors helping neighbors,” said Daren Horton, owner of Gecko Pest Control. “We share a commitment to our profession and to the community that supports our businesses. This is an opportunity to put that commitment into action.”
Pest infestations are more than a nuisance. Cockroaches, rodents, and other household pests can aggravate allergies and asthma, contaminate food, and create unhealthy living conditions. For residents facing financial hardship, professional pest control services may be difficult to afford.
Northeast Texas Habitat for Humanity works with the participating companies to identify households that would benefit from the program.
“This event is about much more than controlling pests,” said Calvin Branch, owner of Branch Pest Control. “It’s about taking care of people, strengthening our community, and showing what can happen when businesses work together instead of competing. We are proud of our industry and proud to call Harrison County home.”
The participating companies hope their annual partnership will inspire other local businesses to find ways to give back.
