SWEPCO Encourages Customers to Review Bill Assistance Options Before Temporary Programs Expire
SHREVEPORT, La. (Oct. 15) – Southwestern Electric Power Company (SWEPCO) is encouraging residential customers who may be struggling with electric bills to call before Oct. 31 to see what assistance programs, payment options and temporary bill support measures may be available for their accounts.
“Many customers may qualify for programs or assistance they haven’t explored yet,” said Paul Pratt, vice president of Customer Experience and New Business Development. “We don’t want customers to wait until they fall behind on their bills before learning about resources that could help them manage costs, avoid additional charges, or establish a more predictable monthly payment.”
A quick call to SWEPCO could help customers:
- Lower their current bill
• Avoid additional charges
• Set up more predictable monthly payments
• Connect with bill assistance programs and payment options
Programs and resources that may be available include:
- Applying a deposit on file to an outstanding account balance
• Waived late payment fees for customers who contact SWEPCO about payment concerns
• Expanded eligibility for the Average Monthly Payment (AMP) program through Oct. 31
• Payment arrangements for qualifying customers
• Bill assistance resources and referrals
• Weatherization programs, rebates and energy-saving tools
SWEPCO representatives are available to review individual account situations, explain available programs and help customers identify options that may fit their needs.
“Every customer’s situation is different,” Pratt said. “A quick conversation with our team can help identify options that may make managing electric bills easier, both now and in the months ahead.”
In addition to temporary support measures, customers may qualify for assistance through the federal Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), Neighbor-to-Neighbor assistance grants, payment plans and other resources.
Customers are encouraged to call 888-216-2523 before October 31 to review their account and see what programs and resources they may qualify for.
