A webpage from the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) now gives Texans insight into why personal auto insurance policies in their area were declined, canceled, or not renewed.

The page also shows the number of cars with insurance policies and the counts of nonrenewals, cancellations, and declinations reported by insurance companies.

“Expanding this transparency tool is more than a data update; it’s a commitment to the Texans we serve,” said Insurance Commissioner Amanda Crawford. “By giving Texans clearer insight into why insurance decisions are made, we’re empowering them to navigate their coverage with confidence.”

This enhanced transparency stems from House Bill 2067, passed in 2025, which requires insurance companies to report this information to TDI and provide written explanations when they decline, cancel, or don’t renew a home or auto insurance policy.
