 | Sept. 28, 2026 New online platform gives veterans, transitioning service members and families one place to begin connecting with participating TVC programs AUSTIN, Texas – The Texas Veterans Commission launched Texas Veterans Access (TVA), on September 25, a new online platform built on a simple idea: transitioning service members, veterans, and military families should spend less time figuring out where to get help and more time connecting with the services they need. Through Texas Veterans Access, veterans can create a reusable profile, submit requests, and stay informed as those requests move forward. For TVC, behind the scenes, the platform creates a shared system to manage requests, coordinate follow-up, and connect veterans with other participating programs. “Texas Veterans Access gives veterans, service members, and military families one place to reach the benefits they earned,” said Governor Greg Abbott. “Texas is home to more veterans than any other state, and Texas will always have their back.” Texas Veterans Access was made possible through Senate Bill 1814, authored by Sen. Kelly Hancock and sponsored in the House by Rep. Cole Hefner, with strong bipartisan support from the Texas Legislature and Governor Abbott. TVC thanks its Texas leaders for investing in a more connected approach to serving Texas veterans and transitioning service members. “When a veteran reaches out for help, we want to make the next step easier,” said Texas Veterans Commission Chairwoman and Navy veteran Laura Koerner. “They shouldn’t have to know which office to call or which program’s door to knock on. Tell us what you need and let us help make that direct connection. That’s what Texas Veterans Access is about.” Using a Texas by Texas (TxT) account, users can create a reusable profile and submit online requests directly to participating TVC programs. They can then track their requests as they move through the process, providing greater visibility from the moment a request is submitted. | Texas Veterans Access (TVA) provides one secure online starting point to create a reusable profile, request services from participating TVC programs, and track requests as they move forward. Watch the TVA introductory video. The goal is for information to follow the veteran rather than requiring the veteran to repeatedly start over. TVA also helps participating TVC programs to better coordinate service requests and referrals, making it easier to connect people with the appropriate program. The September 25 launch is the first in a three-phase approach. It begins with four TVC programs: - Health Care Advocacy – Helps veterans navigate health care concerns and access, including issues involving VA health care.
- Women Veterans Program – Connects women veterans with information, resources and support.
- Veteran Entrepreneur Program – Helps veteran entrepreneurs and business owners start, build and grow their businesses.
- Veterans Mental Health – Connects veterans and their families with peer support, mental health resources and community-based services.
| Phase II will launch in 2027 with TVC’s programs, Education and Grants, alongside an AI chatbot. The TVA expands again with Phase III in 2028 when Claims and Veterans Employment Services will be incorporated, and when participating state agencies and veteran-service organizations will be connected. All this builds toward a deliberate and coordinated effort to give Texas veterans, transitioning service members and their families the best experience possible. Texas Veterans Access provides another way to reach TVC; it does not replace existing services. Telephone, online, and in-person options remain available. While Claims, Education, Employment, and Grants are not part of TVA’s first phase, they will continue to serve veterans through their existing TVC channels. “For nearly 100 years, the Texas Veterans Commission has evolved to meet the changing needs of the people we serve,” said TVC Executive Director and retired U.S. Army Colonel Tom Palladino. “Texas Veterans Access is the next step in that service. We are starting deliberately, listening to veterans, families, and our frontline teams, and building from there.
