OMNISCIENT, A WORD THAT INSPIRES
BY. JAMES A. MARPLES
*************************************** I read the news item a few days ago about Norway’s crown prince becoming King Haakon VIII after his father’s death.Texas has over 145,000 citizens claiming some ancestral tie to Norway. I was impressed by the quiet decorum of the 53 year-old prince as he took his Oath-of-Office in becoming King, just days ago on September 1, 2026. The text of which was: “I promise and swear that I will govern the kingdom of Norway in accordance with its constitution and laws, so help me God, the Almighty and Omniscient”.I especially like that rendition because it truly articulates precisely what he thinks “God” constitutes. It isn’t a vague notion. It isn’t a rock, nor a pagan god or goddess with limited powers of reason and intellect. Nor is it a vague superstition. The word “Omniscient” is defined as: Having infinite awareness, unlimited understanding, or knowing everything. It could also be defined as “The All-Seeing Creator of the Universe”. That word-choice is crystal-clear with not much ambiguity.I wish the new King and his family good health, peace, and prosperity.
