UT Tyler Student Artists Present Advanced Printmaking Work

Exhibition continues through Sept. 25 at Fine Arts Complex Gallery

TYLER, Texas (August 17, 2026) – The University of Texas at Tyler fall 2026 student art exhibition, “Steamroller Prints,” is currently featured through Friday, Sept. 25, at the UT Tyler Fine Arts  Complex Gallery. This show highlights work from UT Tyler students who completed the summer  2026 advanced printmaking course, taught by UT Tyler assistant professor of studio art Maclovio  Cantú IV.

“I was thrilled to work with such an outstanding group of printmakers for the first-ever steamroller print course at UT Tyler,” said Cantú. “Through a month of dedicated carving, the  students demonstrated remarkable discipline, creativity and craftsmanship, producing an impressive range of bold designs.”

The large woodblock prints that make up the exhibition were designed and carved by the students  and printed using a steamroller.

“On printing day, their teamwork was just as inspiring,” Cantú added. “Everyone stepped up to help  one another, and they worked together with the confidence of seasoned printmakers. Watching  them come together was a proud moment and a testament to what a committed group of artists  can accomplish.”
