CHRISTUS Health celebrates opening of new emergency center in Longview

(LONGVIEW, Texas) – CHRISTUS Health officially celebrated the opening of the new CHRISTUS Health Emergency Center West Loop on Tuesday with a blessing and ribbon-cutting ceremony, marking a nearly $7 million investment in expanding access to emergency medical services for Longview and the surrounding East Texas region.

The facility, which opens to patients on August 5, transforms a former urgent care location into a full-service emergency center while remaining connected to the site’s existing walk-in primary care clinic, allowing patients to receive the appropriate level of care in one convenient location.

“Today’s opening reflects our continued commitment to meeting the growing health care needs of East Texas and this new center strengthens our ability to deliver immediate, lifesaving care while integrating seamlessly with the broader CHRISTUS network,” said Todd Hancock, president and CEO of CHRISTUS Good Shepherd Health System. “When patients need a higher level of care, they are connected to the full resources of our hospital system, ensuring continuity and excellence in every step of their care.”

Located at 2101 W. Loop 281, the 8,500-square-foot emergency center is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and features seven exam rooms, three triage rooms, on-site CT imaging, X-ray services, laboratory testing and pharmacy services, providing hospital-level emergency care close to home.

The emergency center is designed to treat a wide range of serious illnesses and injuries, including chest pain, stroke symptoms, traumatic injuries and other time-sensitive medical emergencies requiring rapid diagnosis and treatment.

The adjacent walk-in primary care clinic continues to serve patients with non-emergency medical needs, creating a seamless care experience under one roof.

“In emergency medicine, minutes truly matter,” said Dr. John DiPasquale, vice president of physician operations. “By bringing advanced emergency services together with an established walk-in primary care clinic, we’re making it easier for patients to receive the right care at the right time while improving access across our community.”

The opening of CHRISTUS Emergency Center West Loop continues CHRISTUS Health’s significant investment in Northeast Texas, expanding access to high-quality care and ensuring patients have timely access to emergency services when every moment counts.
