AAA Texas: Gas Prices Back Down In Most Areas
The statewide gas price average in Texas is now $3.64 for a gallon of regular unleaded, according to the AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch. That price is six cents less than a week ago and 86 cents more per gallon than on this day last year. Of the major metropolitan areas surveyed in Texas, drivers in El Paso are paying the most on average at $3.99 per gallon, while drivers in McAllen are paying the least at $3.49 per gallon. The national average price for a gallon of regular unleaded is $4.09, which is the same as last week and 85 cents more compared to this day last year.

Attacks in the Middle East have escalated in the past week, but oil prices have remained below $100 a barrel so far.

“The gas price drop across Texas indicates local supplies are more than adequate to meet demand right now,” said AAA Texas Corporate Communications Manager Doug Shupe. “However, the Iran conflict continues to bring uncertainty to the market. It is unclear whether this is a temporary price downturn or a trend that will go beyond this week.”
