OP-ED: THE DYNAMICS OF CREATION

Genesis 2: 7 “And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.”

The average human body contains thirty trillion cells. Blood cells, bones, skin, organs and many other body parts, from toenails to hair, are made up of cells.

The average cell contains over one-hundred trillion atoms. An atom is the smallest part of an element that can exist and retain its identity. An atom has a nucleus in which there are protons (positively charged particles) and neutrons, neutral particles.

Genesis 2: 1 “Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.” Many of us take this verse to mean that all the matter to be created at that time had been created by God. All the atoms God was to create were “finished.” There would be no more or no less!

The first physics law of thermodynamics supports this scriptural statement. That law is known as the “law of the conservation of energy.” By that law, energy cannot be created or destroyed, it simply changes state.

Some modify this law by adding matter to energy (conservation of matter and energy). In such a case, all the matter (atoms) that were to be created had been created as implied by Genesis 2: 1.

By considering these factors concerning atoms, matter and energy we can determine God is not only the Creator but also the Recycler and Reciprocator. We seem to think recycling plastics, metals, glass and many other substances is an invention of man but God was doing it billions of years before man thought of it.

All of those atoms in your body have existed for billions of years. They just happen to be making up your physical body at this time. After you die those atoms of carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, zinc, iron, magnesium and many others will continue to exist in some other place/object.

The Bible states very certainly that water is one of those many substances that is continually recycled. Ecclesiastes 1: 7 is a description of the hydrologic cycle on earth. The rain falls, evaporates (from our bodies, earth or the oceans) into a vapor, is carried over the earth and falls as rain again.

Ecclesiastes 1: 7 “All the rivers run into the sea; yet the sea is not full; unto the place from whence the rivers come, thither they return again.” This was written by King Solomon 3000 years ago. He knew little about the geometry, orbit or size or shape of the earth.

Only God could have provided Solomon with such information. Ecclesiastes 1: 6 tells us about the atmospheric movements and how that keeps the air in motion mixing the oxygen created in forests and fields on the earth.

Genesis 1: 1-3 partially describes the process of photosynthesis. God, having carbon based matter (the earth), water and light was able to create life sustaining oxygen by photosynthesis which produces chlorophyll (the green substance in plants). A by-product of chlorophyll production is oxygen.

The green plants on earth produce oxygen, animals breathe and produce carbon dioxide. This amazing reciprocating process sustains life on our little green and blue planet.

I fully believe those that claim the Bible is “just another book,” have not read it or taken time to consider how much God knew millennia before man discovered that information.

Isaiah 40: 22 told man the earth was round, twenty-two hundred years before Columbus discovered the Western Hemisphere. “It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in.”

Jeremiah 33: 22 states “the stars are without number” which simply means there are too many to be counted. With the launching of space telescopes by NASA, (Hubble, 1990 and James Webb, 2021), astronomers are now telling us there are too many stars in the galaxy and certainly in the universe to ever count.

Jeremiah wrote that verse twenty-three hundred years before Galileo used the first telescope. Let’s face the fact, God knows more than many give Him credit for.

This may sound a little complicated but we must understand (whether we fully understand it or not) God is the creator of all things and that must be the bare essential of our understanding.

Something could not have come from nothing. Science verifies there is no such thing as spontaneous generation (something coming from nothing).

The second law of thermodynamics confirms order could not have developed from chaos (entropy). There is absolutely nothing to prove or even suggest that life could have evolved from non-life. It just simply could not have happened!

God has also told us in the Holy Bible that we are spiritual beings (Genesis 1: 27, Acts 19: 2-6, 1 Corinthians 6: 19) and that our spirit will live eternally. Daniel 12: 2 “And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake to everlasting life.”

We must always teach that eternal salvation is attained by a faith based belief (Ephesians 2: 8) in Christ Jesus crucified (Matthew 27: 35) for the remission of sin (1 John 1: 9), resurrected (Matthew 28: 6) and ascended alive in to Heaven (Acts 1: 9).
