Data: Data are represented in 2024 inflation-adjusted dollars and includes mortgage and utility costs.

Texas homeowners are feeling the impact of rising housing costs. Between 2021 and 2024, the share of homeowners paying less than $2,500 per month declined, while those paying $3,000 or more increased from 20.2% to 27.0%, even after adjusting for inflation. The trend highlights growing affordability challenges as more Texans face higher costs for mortgage payments, utilities, insurance, and property taxes.
