 Dear Dispatch Readers, The Doughboy Foundation’s ongoing Summer Concert Series continues today, July 23, featuring the historic American Expeditionary Forces (AEF) Headquarters Band! Fresh off their stirring performances at The Washington Tattoo, the Doughboy Foundation’s AEF Headquarters band returns to present “From the Trenches to Broadway.” The concert will trace America’s musical evolution from frontline wartime marches to the early jazz and ragtime rhythms that swept across American theater stages with Keenan McCarter telling this story as the evening’s emcee. Honoring the Washington Stage Guild Our July concert proudly honors the Washington Stage Guild. We recognize the theater company’s outstanding commitment to teaching history through the arts, specifically through their engaging, narrative-driven productions that bring the realities and human stories of WWI to life. The Washington Stage Guild has a rich history of examining conflict, war, and the home front, notably through the works of their most frequently produced playwright, George Bernard Shaw.
