Camille Marlin’s journey from Tyler Junior College to Southern Methodist University reflects a trajectory defined by academic excellence, athletic discipline, and unwavering determination. It culminated in her recent graduation from the SMU Cox School of Business.

The scholarship ultimately helped set the trajectory for Marlin’s success at SMU and beyond.
“Receiving the scholarship allowed me to take full advantage of every opportunity available to me at SMU and it gave me confidence knowing that others believed in my potential and future,” Marlin said. “I am extremely grateful and blessed for the support and encouragement the Brookshire family provided throughout my time there.”
Marlin excelled throughout her years at TJC and highlighted the lasting influence of the College’s faculty, coaches, and mentors who helped shape her academic and personal development. She credits that experience for propelling her into one of the nation’s top business programs.
“My experience at TJC taught me discipline, resilience, and how to balance academics and athletics at a high level,” Marlin said. “My time as a student athlete strengthened my work ethic tremendously and taught me how to stay committed and serve others in the process.”
Now a graduate of SMU Cox, Marlin will begin her career as an analyst with Stream Realty Partners, a leading commercial real estate firm.
“Graduating from Southern Methodist University means so much to me because it represents years of hard work, faith, sacrifice, and growth,” Marlin said.
TJC Board of Trustees member Ann Brookshire said she is pleased to see Marlin succeed, in part, because of the transfer scholarship that bears her family’s name.
“Camille has set a very high bar with her graduation,” Brookshire said. “She transitioned smoothly and took advantage of many opportunities in the Cox School of Business. It will be a joy to watch her future accomplishments.”
The Brookshire TJC-SMU Transfer Scholarship was established in 2022. It provides $10,000 annually ($5,000 per semester), in addition to any existing transfer scholarships or other financial aid. It is renewable for up to five terms or until graduation, contingent upon transfer students maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA while at SMU. Preference is given to Cox School of Business students.
