VLB’s State Veterans Homes are Texas-owned and regulated by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The VLB has an on-site representative in each home to ensure our distinguished long-term residents get the best possible care. Additionally, Veterans with a 70% or higher service-related disability can generally live in VLB’s homes for free. Texas State Veterans Cemeteries Texas State Veterans Cemeteries are special resting places close to home where friends, family, and fellow Texans can honor Texas Veterans. The sacrifices they laid upon the altar of freedom will never be diminished or forgotten. The staff at VLB’s Veterans cemeteries are there to help each Texas Veteran and their family in their time of need. Texas State Veterans Cemeteries are built through a partnership between the state of Texas and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and are managed by the Texas Veterans Land Board. Veterans, spouses, and eligible family members are never charged for burial or setting headstones.
