Exosome treatments surge 162% as demand grows for ‘natural’ alternatives to fillers

New search data analysed by Fresha, the world’s leading beauty and wellness booking platform, reveals a sharp rise in interest in regenerative aesthetic treatments, with searches for “exosomes” reaching around 528,000 per month, increasing 162% year-on-year.

The surge points to a wider shift in how people are approaching cosmetic treatments, moving away from volume-based results towards skin quality, repair and long-term improvement.

Experts say exosomes, often used alongside microneedling and other skin treatments, are becoming one of the fastest-growing areas in aesthetics.

Danielle Louise, beauty expert on the Fresha platform, explains:

“Exosomes are part of a bigger shift we’re seeing across the industry. Clients are moving away from treatments that change the structure of the face and towards treatments that improve the quality of the skin itself.

It’s less about adding and more about restoring, which is why interest is growing so quickly.”

What are exosome treatments, and why are they trending?

Exosomes are microscopic messengers that support cell-to-cell communication and play a role in skin repair and regeneration.

In aesthetic treatments, they are typically applied after procedures like microneedling or laser treatments to help improve skin texture, reduce inflammation and support healing.

According to Danielle, the appeal lies in the subtlety of the results.

“People want to look fresher, not different. Treatments like exosomes work with the skin rather than altering it, which makes them more appealing to clients who want natural-looking results.”

The shift towards regenerative aesthetics

The rise in exosome treatments reflects a broader move towards what experts describe as “regenerative aesthetics”, where the focus is on stimulating the body’s own repair processes rather than relying on synthetic volume.

“We’re seeing more clients prioritising skin health over quick fixes,” Danielle adds.

“Treatments that boost collagen, improve texture and support long-term skin quality are becoming more popular than those that deliver instant but more obvious changes.”

What clients should know before considering exosome treatments

While interest is rising, experts say awareness and education are still catching up.

“Exosome treatments are relatively new in mainstream aesthetics, so it’s important that clients understand what they’re getting and choose qualified practitioners,” Danielle says.

“Results can vary depending on how the treatment is delivered and what it’s combined with, so a personalised approach is key.”

She also notes that, unlike some injectable treatments, results are typically gradual rather than immediate.

A move towards subtle, long-term results

The growth in search demand suggests that more people are looking for treatments that deliver visible improvement without dramatic change.

“This is about a different mindset,” Danielle explains.

“Clients are thinking more long-term. They want healthier skin, better texture and a more natural appearance, rather than something that looks obvious or overdone.”
