Walk to End Parkinson’s at UT Tyler on March 21, 2026

Inaugural Parkinson’s Community Walk Hosted by UT Tyler School of Nursing to Raise  Awareness and Funds for the Parkinson’s Foundation

TYLER, TX, February 19, 2026 – The Parkinson’s Foundation is bringing its Moving Day  Community Walk to The University of Texas at Tyler for the very first time on Saturday, March  21, 2026. Hosted by the UT Tyler School of Nursing, this inaugural event will unite students,  healthcare professionals, families, and community members in Tyler and surrounding East  Texas communities to take action against Parkinson’s disease.

Moving Day Community Walk is more than just a walk — it’s a movement. Participants will  gather on campus to raise awareness and critical funds to support the nearly one million people  living with Parkinson’s disease in the United States.

“This is your chance to speak up about Parkinson’s and take action,” said Melinda Hermanns,  Professor and one of the event organizers. “By participating, you are helping advance research  toward better treatments and a cure, expand educational resources, and fund programs that  make life better for people living with Parkinson’s.”

The event will feature a community walk route on the UT Tyler campus, opportunities to connect  with local resources, and a chance to stand in solidarity with those impacted by Parkinson’s  disease. Participants of all ages and abilities are encouraged to join, form teams, and fundraise  in support of the cause.

Funds raised through Moving Day Community Walk in Tyler will support the Parkinson’s  Foundation’s mission to improve care and advance research toward a cure. The Foundation  provides life-changing resources including educational materials, community programs, a  national Helpline, and research grants that drive innovation in Parkinson’s treatment and care. About Parkinson’s Disease

Affecting an estimated one million Americans, Parkinson’s disease is the second-most common  neurodegenerative disease after Alzheimer’s and is the 14th-leading cause of death in the U.S.  It is associated with a progressive loss of motor control (e.g., shaking or tremor at rest and lack

of facial expression), as well as non-motor symptoms (e.g., depression and anxiety). There is no  cure for Parkinson’s and nearly 90,000 new cases are diagnosed each year in the U.S.
