Proclamation Day in Gilmer: Dr. Shenequa C. Miller Day – March 1st
SCM Integrity First Companies will host a community celebration honoring Dr. Shenequa C. Miller Day on Sunday, March 1, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Abney Street Park (505 Abney St., Gilmer, Texas 75644).
The event will feature free BBQ plates for the first 125 attendees, bringing residents and families together in appreciation of Dr. Miller’s lifelong commitment to service, leadership, and community impact.
Dr. Shenequa C. Miller is the Founder and CEO of SCM Integrity First Companies, LLC, a woman-owned, family-operated construction and development firm that began in Gilmer and has expanded throughout Texas, including the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex. As a custom home builder and commercial multifamily developer, Dr. Miller leads projects that revitalize neighborhoods, expand housing opportunities, and strengthen communities through sustainable development.
On February 28, 2023, Dr. Miller made history as the first person in Gilmer to receive the Key to the City, recognizing decades of impact and service. In honor of her contributions, March 1 was officially proclaimed Dr. Shenequa C. Miller Day.
Beyond construction and development, Dr. Miller is a published author, founder of the nonprofit SheCanMakeIt.org, and a national education leader and university professor with more than 30 years of experience empowering individuals, families, and communities across Texas.
“This celebration is not just about recognition,” organizers shared. “It is about honoring the example of integrity, perseverance, and service that Dr. Miller represents for Gilmer and beyond.”
