Nutrition accommodations for students focus of Feb. 4 webinar
Event will provide an overview of key definitions related to Individual Education Plans and 504 plans

There is no cost to attend, but registration is required. Once registered, an email will be sent with connection information.
The webinar is designed to equip service providers and families by highlighting the role dietitians play in developing goals and objectives to support parents and the educational system and ensure that all children can thrive in their educational environments.
The webinar will be presented by Lt. Col. Joetta Khan, Ph.D., deputy consultant to the surgeon general.
Learning objectives
The webinar will provide an overview of key definitions related to the Individual Education Plan, IEP, and 504 plans. Participants will learn to:
- Identify common health conditions that may require nutrition-related accommodation.
- Examine common meal plan and eating environment modifications that may be included in an IEP or 504 plan.
- Provide examples of IEP goals and 504 plan objectives across developmental stages.
Continuing education credits available
One continuing education credit is available in each of the following areas:
- Certified family and consumer sciences, American Association for Family and Consumer Sciences.
- Certified nutrition and wellness educator, American Association for Family and Consumer Sciences.
- Board-certified patient advocates, Patient Advocate Certification Board.
- Board-certified case managers, Commission for Case Manager Certification.
- Registered dietitian nutritionists and nutrition and dietetics technicians, Commission on Dietetic Registration.
- Certified family life educators, National Council on Family Relations.
- Certified health education specialist and master certified health education specialist, National Commission for Health Education Credentialing.
- Social Workers, licensed professional counselors, and licensed marriage and family therapists, University of Texas at Austin School of Social Work.
