The League of Women Voters of Texas Helps Texans Be Informed Voters in the November Election

AUSTIN, TX — As soon as the gavel fell on the Texas Legislative session, the phones at the League of Women Voters of Texas’ office began to ring. Callers wanted to know, “When will your Voters Guide about the amendments be available?” and “Have you posted your Constitutional Amendments explainer videos yet?” Their urgency wasn’t surprising, since two years ago, over a million Texans turned to the League’s short videos to make sense of the amendments on their ballot, and nearly as many pored over the Voters Guide in print, online, and on VOTE411.org. The demand was clear. Texans weren’t waiting for election season to arrive; they were eager, once again, for the League’s trusted resources to help them navigate the choices ahead.

The League of Women Voters of Texas’ 2025 Constitutional Amendment Election Voters Guide is now available at LWVTexas.org and VOTE411.org. In the nonpartisan Voters Guide, each of the seventeen proposed amendments is explained in clear language, along with arguments for and against each one.

The propositions on the upcoming ballot span a broad range of issues, including capital funding for technical colleges, denial of bail, the state water fund, various tax exemptions, bans on wealth, securities, death, and capital gains taxes, the creation of a commission on judicial conduct, dementia prevention and research initiatives, parental rights, and citizenship-based voting.

For these resources to reach as many voters as possible, LWV Texas is providing their nonpartisan Voters Guide and its information in various formats:

  • At LWVTexas.org, the easily readable, printable, web-friendly PDF version of the Voters Guide is available in four languages: English, Spanish, Vietnamese, and Chinese.
  • Their online, interactive version of the Voters Guide can be found on VOTE411.org, which will have the Guide in both English and Spanish and also provides information about voting dates, polling locations, and more. At VOTE411, voters can also obtain information about local races and ballot measures, if there is a local League in their community.
  • The League has also produced “explainer videos” for voters who prefer to get information in a different format. These can be found at https://bit.ly/lwvtx-ca2025videos and LWVTexas.org.
  • And, of course, printed copies of LWV Texas’ 2025 Constitutional Amendment Election Voters Guide will be distributed across the state to public and college libraries, voting advocates, and food banks.

“The League embraces its mission of ‘Empowering Voters. Defending Democracy.’ by giving Texan voters the knowledge they need to vote with confidence. We encourage voters to become informed and decide for themselves. We urge our supporters and other organizations to share these resources with their communities across Texas,” said Joyce LeBombard, president of the League of Women Voters of Texas.

LeBombard added, “The League is registering voters across the state, and educating Texans about voting and elections. For over 100 years, we have provided unbiased, understandable information about elections. Please share the League’s website and VOTE411.org with friends and family so that ALL Texas voters can be INFORMED voters!”
