Attorney General Ken Paxton Announces January Tour to Hold Republican Representatives Accountable Ahead of Texas Speaker Race
Austin, TX – Attorney General Ken Paxton has announced a statewide tour on January 6th and 7th visiting individual state representative districts with incumbents who continue to undermine the Republican Party by cutting deals with Democrats to obstruct a Speaker elected by a majority of Republicans ahead of the 2025 legislative session.
“This tour is about accountability,” said Attorney General Ken Paxton. “Governor Abbott, Lt. Governor Dan Patrick, and the voters of Texas spoke this past year. They expect a Republican-led majority to elect a Speaker by a majority of Republican state representatives. Incumbents who made similar ill-fated decisions two years ago, including wrongfully attempting to impeach me, are not returning this legislative session. Take this as a warning. If you’re making deals with Democrats to block a Republican majority-elected speaker, expect a primary challenge. Texans deserve leadership that reflects their values. There is still time for these incumbents to make the right decision.”
Paxton’s tour is in conjunction with the Republican Party of Texas Chairman Abraham George. It will include stops in key districts across the state, highlighting representatives who have fallen short of upholding conservative principles in the past and are reportedly working for a Speaker not elected by a Republican majority. Below are the tour stops and representatives who have yet to confirm they will support a Speaker elected by a Republican majority.
