JIM “PAPPY” MOORE: The Goodness of Black Americans
By Jim “Pappy” Moore
Black Americans are getting a bad rap. Most of them are hard-working, decent, driven people. They want a fair shake from society. They want good educations for their children. They want safety for their neighborhoods.
I have known many black people in my life, starting in 1960 when I was ten years old. In those early 1960s I went with my Dad, a preacher, into their homes at their invitation. We sat at their dinner tables. We ate the food they prepared. We visited frequently with Black Christians in East Texas.
What I learned in all those family visits, and in visiting with them at their church was how decent and dedicated they were. I learned how exciting and exuberant their services and singing were.
Unfortunately, today’s world often shows only the decay of modern big cities, all of which are run by Democrats and have been run by Democrats for decades. Poverty is common there, and government projects have become the Democrat plantations of our era. Crime is rampant and most of that crime is black on black crime. The decent Blacks in those cities are at the mercy of the criminals.
The problem is compounded by the police departments in some of those big cities, which departments largely turn a blind eye to the black-on-black crime that threatens all those decent, good-hearted, faithful senior citizens and hard-working citizens from teen years on up.
Democrats want to keep poor blacks on their Big City Plantations, where the poorest look to Democrats for handouts, but not help up.
In my adult life I have interacted with many, many black people. If you have never attended a black church, you should try it. On Sunday morning in America, good black people attend their church, and most of the time that church is Christian. They have practices which are unique to black congregations. Sometimes the women organize theme dressing, and many of the women arrive dressed in the same color. It might be purple. It might be gold. It might be colors associated with Africa.
There have been Democrats who were good friends to blacks in America. JFK was one. LBJ was one. Joe Biden is not one. He’s using their money to fund his invasion of America by illegal immigrants, who get put up in hotels, who are flown about the country, and who often take jobs that otherwise would be going to black teenagers, black young adults, or adults of all ages.
Media pretends to be supportive, but they love showing those midnight fights breaking out in Waffle House with mostly black participants. Or the Superbowl parade where people scatter as gunfire breaks out between a handful of black gangsters.
I feel for all those wonderful black people who have to live with the denigration of their 40 million Americans because a small percentage of them are criminals who prey mostly on them. Think about black Americans you know. That preacher. That legal secretary. That mother of two and TV commentator. That comedian. That high school coach. There is nothing about them that isn’t admirable. They raise good children. They do everything they’re supposed to do, but then white people who pretend to care about them exploit their communities every four years for votes. White people who spread division and hatred, but who disappear after the election. White people who prefer illegal immigrants to homegrown black people.
Treating black people well begins with reframing the way black people are perceived in our society. Don’t let the criminals in big cities dominant the view of black Americans by society. Look for the decent black people and you will find them in schools, in community organizations, in businesses, in churches.
Open your heart to Blacks and talk about the ones you know who are great Americans. Stop talking so much about the Waffle House rumbles at midnight.
