  • Pride in Bloom
    9:00 am-5:00 pm
    Jun-10-23-Jun-11-23

The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden celebrates LGBTQ+ Pride Month with its second Pride in Bloom celebration on June 10 and 11.  The event returns with a full weekend of LGBTQ+ artisans, entertainers, chefs and small businesses. Guests are invited to shop items at the curated vendor market, pack or purchase a picnic, listen to the live entertainment and enjoy Gary Lee Price’s Great Contributors’ bronze exhibition. In addition, the Dallas Arboretum transforms the Pecan Grove with dozens of colorful ribbon chandeliers, the site of a community picnic celebration. For weekend schedule, visit https://www.dallasarboretum.org/events-activities/pride-in-bloom/

On both days, the Rory Meyers Children’s Adventure Garden presents hands-on STEM activities for the family exploring the color spectrum and Earth and Life Science.

Tickets, which range from $12 to $20, are required and can be purchased online at www.dallasarboretum.org or by calling 214-515-6615. Parking is $11 purchased online or $15 at the gate. Admission is free to the Children’s Adventure Garden as a part of Kelley Family Days with the purchase of a general garden ticket.

The Upshur Area Amateur Radio Club (UAARC) will be participating in the annual ARRL Field Day this year. Field Day is the largest Amateur Radio on-the-air event held in the US and is a chance for HAM’s to practice emergency communications, meet new people, and just have fun! The event runs for 24 hours and we will start operating at 1:00pm (18:00 UTC) on Saturday, June 24th. We will be operating in Upshur County off of FM 1972 near Diana. On June 24th, there will be a large sign at the event site as well as signs at the intersections of FM 1649/FM 1972 and FM 726/FM 1972 with specific location information. Licensed amateur radio operators and anyone interested in the hobby are encouraged to stop by and visit with us or even get on the air and make some contacts!
