Work to widen FM 2796 in Upshur County underway

Lane closure in place

September 5, 2024

ATLANTA – A lane closure is in place on FM 2796 in Upshur County as work gets underway to widen the road, according to the Texas Department of Transportation.

The widening project includes 4.3 miles from State Highway 155 to Farm to Market Road 593.

Currently, a portable traffic signal is in place at Draw Creek and at Bishop Creek controlling the lane closure. This closure is scheduled to be in place for four months. Closures at other locations on this project will be scheduled as work progresses.

The entire project is expected to take about 26 months to complete. Plans include widening the existing two-lane roadway to add shoulders.

True Roads Construction was awarded the contract in July with a bid of $5,101,063.
