Local Businessman Matt Thorsen Announces Candidacy for Texas House District 67
MELISSA, TEXAS – Local businessman and community leader Matt Thorsen today
announced his candidacy for Texas State House District 67 as a Republican. The seat is currently held by Rep. Jeff Leach. Thorsen also serves as the Collin County GOP Chair for House District 67.
“Texas deserves honest, conservative representation,” said Matt Thorsen. “I’m running for State House to give a voice back to the people of District 67…something they haven’t had for a long time.”
Thorsen is the founder and owner of The Dallas Shutter Company, a successful small
business he built from the ground up. Though he has not previously held elected office, Thorsen has been actively involved in Collin County Republican politics, advocating for transparency, accountability, and true conservative values.

Thorsen’s opponent, Representative Jeff Leach, was censured under RPT Rule 44 by his local precinct chairs. The Republican Party cited 13 legislative actions Leach took that were found to violate Republican priorities and principles.
“The truth is, Rep. Leach has failed to deliver on many conservative priorities the last couple sessions,” Thorsen continued. “I can’t sit on the sidelines while this district continues to be misrepresented. It’s time for leadership that actually stands with the people…a grassroots champion.”
